Job Description
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
The purpose of a job description is to outline the essential functions unique to a particular job within a specific department. Job descriptions are used to recruit, train, and evaluate employees.
JOB TITLE: Landscaper
REPORTS TO: Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
Is responsible for leading, coordinating, and executing the work of landscaping and grounds maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Mow and detail all district lawns following customer base.
Follow the scheduled maintenance plan to care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds.
Plant shrubs, vegetation, etc.
Assist other employees when needed
Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, etc.
Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the manager.
Help keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
Employee is required to use safety devices and protective equipment in order to minimize the frequency and severity of work-related accidents. Adheres to safe practices and methods in the operation of equipment and supplies related to his/her particular job. The employee is responsible for correcting and/or reporting conditions that may be hazardous to employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Performs other related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or equivalent certificate.
Prior experience in landscaping and grounds preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience deemed sufficient to prepare the applicant to successfully perform the duties of the position.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Texas driver’s license or Identification Card
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions provided in English.
Ability to operate landscaping equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge of the methods and practices of landscaping work.
Ability to work overtime or weekends and respond to calls to work in advance of regular hours for weather events and other emergencies.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
Ability to employ business technology tools as required, ex. Email, Invoicing System, etc.
Must have reliable transportation.

Tools/Equipment Used: Garden tools; small hand tools; power tools; power mower; light truck or van
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment:
Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, and vibration; exposure to chemical (herbicides and fertilizer) and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
